Bhubaneswar: The Buhbaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police on Sunday announced several measures taken by them to ensure a safe and untoward incident-free Holi this year. According to Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh, police will deploy 15 platoons of e forces across the capital city to prevent any untoward incident during the festival.

In addition, 31 static posts will be set up at different locations in Bhubaneswar and 17 patrolling vehicles apart from PCR vans will be deployed during Holi to curb trouble in public places. The control room has also been reinforced with additional forces for surveillance and coordination, informed Singh.

Singh said that surveillance will be intensified through CCTV cameras and prompt action will be taken in case of any untoward incidents.

“We will not tolerate any nuisance during Holi. Besides, checking vehicles and drivers for drunk driving will be intensified,” said Singh.

Special permission will be required to host parties in hotels and other places as the model code of conduct for the general elections is in force. Organisers of parties and other such programmes must inform the local police station regarding the guests and use of loudspeakers.

The Commissionerate Police has also formed a special team headed by a DSP rank officer and experts from the Pollution Control Board to inspect shops to check the sale of adulterated colours.
